Beatriz Meireles was born in Paredes, on June 30, 1985. In her childhood, she was divided between this land and Penafiel, where her paternal family and maternal family came from, respectively. As an adult, he lived for a few years in Porto, as well as a few months in Lisbon, at a time when he wanted to be a journalist. She has a degree and a master’s degree in Law, having practiced law in her hometown, Paredes. Since 2017, she has been Councilor for Social Action, Culture and Tourism at the Municipality of Paredes, functions that allow her to coordinate, with great pleasure, the Cultural Magazine of the Municipality of Paredes – Orpheu Paredes and Café Literário, among other interesting cultural projects. For a few years he even wrote for a local newspaper, and, between 2015 and 2016, he decided to enter the literary world. She is passionate about different forms of art, from the most imperfect, politics, to the most perfect, literature and painting. Her taste for beautiful things leads her to admit that, in the future, she will dedicate herself to writing, as well as to the themes of Art History. With Idioteque, she published Depois da Morte (Um Amendoal em Flor) (2019), his first book, a work written with sensitivity and rare literary tact, a text that traverses, from end-to-wick and for three generations the history from a family from Paredes, with the mastery of someone who knows how to portray feelings, humor or affections, as well as the colors, odors or objects that always complement and enhance them, and O Visconde das Camélias Crimesins (2020), a novel in which loves and dislikes coexist, wealth and poverty, the pleasurable legitimacy and illegitimacy of the physical and emotional relationships between men and women of that time, the ephemeral joy as the deepest and the slack sadness that, in a timeless and not geography, has always inhabited the “more than human in us”.
