Aires Montenegro

Aires Montenegro was born in 1948, in S. Martinho das Chãs, Armamar, district of Viseu. He graduated in Philosophy from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. He was Professor of Philosophy in several High Schools and Secondary Schools, having completed his career at Daniel Faria Secondary School, Baltar, Paredes municipality. Lives in Gandra, Paredes. An amateur musician, he attended the Porto Conservatory of Music and is currently dedicated to the study and dissemination of the nyckelharpa, a medieval instrument of Swedish origin. In this context, it has participated in the International Days of the Nyckelharpa, which take place every year in Burg Fürsteneck, Germany. He is the author of the books Sagrado Letes (poetry), A Última Emboscada (short stories), Último Nocturno (novel), Oferenda Oriental (poetry) and Diria o Maestro (novel). With Idioteque, he published Tristeza Solene (2017), a book about an old professor who spends his time weaving tattered memories, which he then spreads throughout the intimacy of a diary, in the illusion that life can still reveal some original meaning to him.
