2nd Edition Tratar o cancro por tu: Vila Real

Fifth session of IPATIMUP’s “Tratar o cancro por tu” initiative, held at the Municipal Theater of Vila Real and focused on Skin Cancer. Participations by Manuel Sobrinho Simões, Jorge Lima, José Manuel Lopes and João Pinto de Sousa, with intervention by the Mayor of Vila Real. Moderation was by Tiago Alves and Miguel Soares, from Antena 1, with a performance by Jorge Serafim.

“Jorge Serafim made an absolutely brilliant satire about fashion’s imposition on the importance of skin color. But this has to be looked at according to where in the world we live. If this is true in the Western world […] where we […] sunbathe, we spend hours and hours in the sun to become dark […], the truth is that the stereotype of beauty varies greatly depending on where we live and will condition , certainly […] the appearance of diseases like this, specifically, skin cancer.”
