Sixth and final session of the second edition of “Tratar o cancro por tu”, an IPATIMUP initiative, this time in Évora, on colon cancer. Interventions by Fátima Carneiro, Manuel Sobrinho Simões, José Carlos Machado, Rui Dinis and the Vice-Rector of the University of Évora, with moderation by Tiago Alves and Miguel Soares, from Antena 1, and a performance by Jorge Serafim.
“I wanted to introduce something that I rarely see introduced into the debate: we know that the criteria for screening are very much involved, as Dr. Dinis said, in the economic criteria […] there is a question of knowing what value we give to life, or in this case, death. But I never see the issue discussed that colonoscopy is not just an exam that allows early detection. Colonoscopy even allows for primary detection. Therefore, the gain in terms of people’s lives, of individual drama, is very great.”
– Nuno Marcos, in testimony at the sixth session of “Tratar o cancro por tu”
